The story is quite simple: Four years ago I found myself in a cubicle with no natural light. Great start. Even so, my coworkers were wonderful and it was in a field that I was interested in. There was one pressing issue, however…

I ran out of the annual PTO within 3 months of working there.

It had never really dawned on me that the traditional work routine doesn’t really allow you any sort of freedom to travel, spend time with family/friends, or just take a breather for a few days. There are exceptions, of course, but I was 22 years old and NOT about to sit behind a desk for 40 years. So I took everyone’s advice of “travel while you can” and got to the drawing board….
